Mt Coot-tha sits 7kms from the CBD and offers a spectacular view of Brisbane. It’s a ‘must see’ for visitors but there is more than just a view!

When to visit

Sunrise to see the city burst with colour as the sun rises behind it, go during the day for a picturesque backdrop or visit at night for a romantic scene of glittering city lights and starry skies.

Where to eat

Visit the Summit for a romantic high-end dinner or the Kuta café for take-away food that you can sit down and enjoy on the grassed area. The Kuta café sells ice cream and souvenirs.

Activities

There are many many different levels of walking trails through Mt Coot-tha. As well as Mountain cycling and even horse trails!

At the foot of Mt Coot-tha is JC Slaughter Falls with BBQ facilities and picnic tables.

Brisbane Botanical Gardens is located here and it spans over 52 hectares! It is open everyday of the year and offers free guided tours Monday to Saturday twice a day.

Attend a show at the Cosmic Skydome! Queensland’s largest Planetarium is also located at the foot of Mt Cootha.

It is dog friendly and picnic ready!

Getting married or holding an event? The Summit has function rooms that open out to the city views.

How to get there

CAR - Brisbane Lookout offers plenty of free off-street and on-street parking as well as 5 bus parking bays. Note: During peak times car parks at the peak do get very crowded.

BUS - Translink have bus 471 that travels from Adelaide Street in Brisbane City to Brisbane Lookout every day. For times, please see the Trankslink website.

UBER - $17.00 - $23.00 AUD from Brisbane City (Cost will vary)

TAXI - Taxi fares from Brisbane City range from $26.00 - $37.00 (AUD) depending on the time of day and day.
